NOT YOUR AVERAGE:

LED fog light bulbs seem to be all the rage nowadays, but for all the wrong reasons. The flamboyant marketing strategies and the never-ending race for exaggerated numbers, thrust upon unsuspecting consumers, provides us with quite an entertaining spectacle. To those of us who are well-informed, these tactics have become rather amusing. Claims of 100W power or 10,000 lumens, along with hushed secrets of rare materials and extravagant coatings for the LED chips—nice narrative, but how do they really perform on the road at night? After all, isn't that what fog lights are meant for?

2STROKE 2.0:

While we haven't delved into this realm until now, at least not at the expense of compromising our reputation by offering our customers something we ourselves didn't genuinely believe in, we can certainly acknowledge the value of Morimoto's patience. By observing the trials and tribulations of others, Morimoto stayed on the sidelines, absorbing the lessons learned from their experiences. Putting the brand-new 2Stroke 2.0 system through its paces alongside a plethora of other designs, we found ourselves finally intrigued by LED fog light bulbs. Against all odds and contrary to our initial expectations, seeing is indeed believing, and we're compelled to admit that they perform remarkably well. Let's explore why.

PRIORITY:

With the 2Stroke Bulbs, you won't be compromising your safety during nighttime drives. Until now, our endorsements for LED bulbs were primarily limited to auxiliary lighting, high beams, and fog lights. Here at our testing hub for automotive lighting products (and trust us, we've tested a vast array), there was previously a glaring absence of options capable of translating their luminosity onto the road in a practical beam pattern (with measured lux at a distance) suitable for on-road use. The optics of the 2Stroke bulbs are meticulously tailored to this purpose, setting them apart from other sizes in the lineup and yielding the most optimal outcomes in fog lights.

EMBRACING MODERNITY:

In contrast to the original 2Stroke, which harnessed robust CREE XHP50 LED chips, the updated 2.0 version proudly adopts the latest and finest Z ES chips from Philips Lumileds. These chips' compact footprint enables a higher lumen density and unprecedented precision, allowing the bulb to flawlessly replicate the output of the halogen bulbs they replace. While various other LED fog light bulbs are turning to diminutive LED chips lined up in sequence, nothing rivals the performance of the Philips Z ES chips.

COOLING INGENUITY:

Effective heat management is pivotal for preserving luminosity and reliability. The 2Stroke bulb employs internally opposed 1.5mm copper boards that efficiently dissipate heat from the vicinity of the LED chips, channeling it to the radiator located at the bulb's rear. This radiator housing, fashioned from CNC-machined 6061 aluminum, harbors an ingeniously concealed magnetic levitating fan. This compact design represents a balance between housing an effective yet compact cooling mechanism.

SIZE WITH PRECISION:

Given the increased depth of most LED bulbs, they encounter difficulties fitting within fog lights equipped with solid plastic rear housing caps. However, the 2Stroke 2.0 stands out as one of the most compact (yet actively cooled) LED Bulbs in circulation. Throughout its development, Morimoto painstakingly considered this aspect—a formidable feat, considering the challenge of achieving equilibrium between size, power input to the LED chips, and efficient thermal management to keep them operating safely.
